      The present invention offers the novel device and method to detect foodborne microbial pathogen such as Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi, Listeria monocytogens, enterohemorrhagic E. coli O157, Vibrio vulnificus and Staphylococcus aureus within 30 minutes of testing by colorimetric detection using trace amounts of enrichment culture (1ml) from food samples.

      Using this product can reduce detection time to be within 30 minutes of testing compared to conventional enrichment culture method which takes 8~24 hours. This eliminates the disposal cost of preparing and using selective media.

      In particular, the multiple-detection testing pattern fabricated within the microfluidic paper chip containing unique chromogenic reaction against various substance allows the user to detect and identify more than 10 food poisoning bacteria mentioned in HACCP. Therefore, the time and effort required to detect and identify food poisoning bacteria can be drastically reduced in resource-limited settings.
